Given the situation unfolding in Ukraine, the employees of Liberty Graphics are donating 100% of the retail sale of a new Sunflower & Bees design to Doctors Without Borders for the month of March or until sold out. Submitted photo

At the end of last year, Liberty Graphics, a locally-based screenprinting business specializing in science and nature-themed T-shirts, developed a Sunflower & Beesnatur T-shirt for its 2022 line without fully realizing the importance of its symbolism in the world.

In Ukraine, the sunflower (or soniahnyk in Ukrainian) represents peace, unity and resilience, according to a news release from the business.

Given the situation unfolding in Ukraine, the employees of Liberty Graphics have found a unique opportunity to help. They will donate 100% of the retail sale of the Sunflower & Bees design to Doctors Without Borders for the month of March or until sold out.

In a March 8 update, Doctors Without Borders writes, “As the war in Ukraine escalates, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is mobilizing to set up emergency response activities. We now have teams in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, Russia, and Belarus. MSF is an independent and impartial organization committed to providing medical humanitarian assistance to people affected by the war no matter who they are or where they are.”

T-shirts and tea towels can be purchased through Facebook, Instagram and at NatureTshirts.com.

A limited number will also be available at the outlet store in Liberty, which is open Thursday through Sunday this month.

Sunflower & Bees is an original design by natural history artist Diana Dee Tyler.
