During a food drive at the Blaine House in Augusta on Saturday, Gov. Paul LePage showed William Harvey, 7, of Winslow and his nine-year-old sister Lilly a note written by President Abraham Lincoln to Speaker of the House James G. Blaine that was penned a week before Lincoln was assassinated. LePage and his wife, Ann, opened the Blaine House to guests as part of a food drive to help needy Mainers. The drive will occur again the next two Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests can drop off non-perishable food items and chat with Maine’s first family.
