WATERVILLE — Ashleigh Gagne had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Shannon Ritter scored all 10 of her points in the fourth quarter as Waterville defeated Maine Central Institute, 49-40 Friday in the girls basketball season opener for both teams.
Waterville outscored MCI, 20-11 in the fourth quarter after the games was tied at 29 at the end of the third quarter.
Sarah Bennett scored 15 points and Kylee Alton added 14 for MCI.
