AUGUSTA — A  status conference in the criminal case against former Chelsea selectman Carole J. Swan was postponed Tuesday at the request of her attorney.

Swan, 53, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with aggravated forgery and criminal attempt, both felonies; and two counts of improper compensation for services, a misdemeanor.

The charges in Kennebec County Superior Court relate to accusations she solicited up to $20,000 in kickbacks from a plow contractor between Sept. 24, 2009, and Feb. 3, 2011, when she was chairman of the Chelsea Board of Selectmen.

The status conference was reset for Aug. 9.

“Carole was not indicted yet, so we postponed the unnecessary gesture of coming in for a status conference,” Swan’s attorney, Leonard Sharon, said via e-mail late Monday. “The word from the DA’s office is that she will be indicted soon.”
