ORONO — Courtney L. Phillips recently graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders.

Phillips is a 2005 graduate of Gardiner Area High School. In 2009, she received a bachelor’s degree with a major in communication sciences and disorders and a minor in childhood development and family relations from the University of Maine at Orono.

She is the daughter of Michael and Donna Phillips of Gardiner.

PORTLAND — Timothy Newell of Augusta has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of New England.

Newell is studying math and sciences and plans on pursuing a career in the medical field.

A 2010 graduate of Cony High School, he is the son of Lisa Newell of Augusta and Winfield Newell of Winter Park, Fla.

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire has announced its spring semester dean’s list.

Local students in Maine are Devon Ayer of Monmouth, Kara Strout of North Monmouth, and Christopher Logan of Chelsea, all honors; Benjamin Tibbetts of Windsor, Jason Gilmore of Richmond, Holly Parker of Augusta, Emily Guild of Manchester, Mackenzie Hill of Winthrop and Erin Paine of Belgrade, who all earned highest honors; and Katreana Cloutier of Litchfield and Emma Prichard of Belgrade, both high honors.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Three local students, Daniel C. Gilbert of Augusta, Maine, Benjamin H. Goldman of Dresden, Maine, and Alyssa W. Woodcock of Mount Vernon, Maine, have been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Clark University.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Maeghan J. Purdy of Augusta recently graduated cum laude from Framingham State University with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design and retail with a concentration in merchandising.

Purdy is currently living in Massachusetts and is employed by Avni Fashion in Boston as a marketing and sales lead which includes public relations, event planning and coordination.

Purdy is a 2007 graduate of Erskine Academy. She is the daughter of Gisele and Ron Beaudoin and the late Tim A. Purdy.

MACHIAS — The following local students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Maine at Machias: Acadia Tripp of Sidney, Cynthia MacMaster of Dresden, Tracy Jackson of Farmingdale, Emily Blanchard of Winthrop and Feiyan Zheng of Washington.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Jaime Constanzer of South China, Maine, has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Delaware Valley College.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Heather Thomas of Belgrade, Maine, has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Columbus State University.

Thomas is majoring in music performance.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — David R. Griffin of Manchester, Maine, recently received a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in mechanical engineering from Western New England College.

Griffin also received the School of Engineering’s Wellen G. Davison Award, presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the mechanical engineering laboratory.

Griffin was honored for his senior design project, an alternative energy active learning platform, which will be used by students studying green engineering. The platform allows students to explore various forms of alternative energy, including wind, solar, and hydrogen fuel cell technologies.

Griffin was also inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Mortar Board honor societies, and is a winner of the Alumni Association’s Skookum Award. He served as a peer adviser for freshman students and as president of the Western New England Chapter of One in Four, an organization devoted to combating sexual assault.

Griffin has been hired by Pratt and Whitney as a heat transfer and secondary flow engineer.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Ryan Henry of Augusta recently graduated from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture.

The five-year program included a semester in Copenhagen, Denmark. Henry was instrumental in developing the college’s athletic program and designing the new mascot. He received the Robin Hood Oak Award for service and leadership to the college community. He was a cheerleader for Syracuse University, earning his varsity letter this past year.

Henry will work for Syracuse University at the Carrier Dome in community relations. He is a 2006 graduate of Cony High School and is the son of Alan and Renee Henry of Augusta.

ORONO — The University of Maine has announced its spring semester dean’s list.

The following students, all of Winthrop, received this honor: Stuart Blanchard, Thomas Conley, Kristopher Cooper, Caitlin Dutton, Brendan Halligan, Rachel Labbe, Kevin Leavitt, Meghan McCarthy and Zachary Nichols.

WALTHAM, Mass. — Katherine Webber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Webber of Augusta, Maine, recently graduated from Bentley University. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in management and a minor in English.

Webber received an award that recognized her outstanding academic achievement by graduating with high distinction in management. She is a 2007 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Webber of Augusta, and Grace Doyon and the late Ronald R. Doyon, also of Augusta.
