AUGUSTA — Central Church is scheduled to hold its annual Day In The Park event starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 28, in Capitol Park, 33 Union St.
Every year, thousands of people are welcomed from across Maine to join with church with the State Capitol as backdrop as it hosts live music, a Gospel message, and provides free games, activities and food for all.
The free offerings include a barbecue, haircut, shoes and carnival games.
Day In The Park also includes a time of reflection and prayer with State House Rep. Laurel Libby of North Auburn and Minot.
Her work will be shared with Speak Up For Life and School Choice, and the church will be inviting a time of focused prayer over this work and those that are serving alongside her on these issues.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
