AUGUSTA — Capital Area Technical Center recently inducted 27 new members into the National Technical Honor Society.

From Cony High School: Sage Fortin, Amanda French, Alivia Maheux, Alex Roberts, Andrew Warhol and Michaela Webber;

From Erskine Academy: Samuel Boynton, Alexia Cole, Gavin Cunningham, Brianna Gardner, Tucker Greenwald, Brenden Levesque, Keith Radonis and Emmalee Sanborn;

From Gardiner Area High School: Sophia Baron and Thomas Bilodeau;

From Maranacook Community High School: Myah Ladd, Jared Mrazik, Royce Nelson, Isabella Savage, Cassidy Tims and Shylah Woodford;

From Monmouth Academy: Brosnan Comeau and Ostin Hasenfus-Smith;

The NTHS Honorary Member for 2023 is Jeff Goggin of South China. He is the owner of Tri City Auto, located in Augusta, and has been in operation since 1978. Goggin is a graduate of Gardiner Area High School and completed two years of CATC’s Electrical program. He attended the University of Maine and is a graduate of Sherwin Williams Auto refinishing school.

While in high school, he started working in an auto parts store. He swept floors and stocked shelves, helping wherever he could. Over time, his duties expanded to bookkeeping and customer service, according to a news release from Stephanie Turgeon, Student Services coordinator at the technical center.

Goggin is the past chair of the China Recreation Department and a former Scout leader. He has coached various youth and school baseball and basketball teams.

He served on the China Youth League Board. He is a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Reserve Officer Training program and was a reserve police officer with the Augusta Police Department.
