PALERMO — Naturalist and Sheepscot Valley Conservaation Association Programs Manager Lynne Flaccus will lead a guided exploration of the SVCA’s Palermo Preserve at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28.

This 74-acre wooded preserve, located on the Turner Ridge Road, protects 4,000 feet of the upper reaches of the Sheepscot River. More than a mile of trails wind through mixed forest and along the banks of the Sheepscot River. The riparian areas of the river are bustling with life this time of year.

Participants will look for signs of wildlife including salamanders along the river, and investigate the small vernal pool located along the White Trail. Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes, be prepared for insects and bring water. All ages welcome.
