UNITY — Waldo County Trails Coalition will lead eight Saturday trail walks from 10 a.m. to about noon. Walks will start at the trailhead across from Inland Family Care. Two hikes will feature activities for the entire family, rather than distance covered. Another one will introduce participants to geocaching, which is using a global positioning system receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek items, called “geocaches” or “caches.”

The following walks are planned: Family Walk, June 28, Introduction to Geocaching, July 12. This is an Inland Hospital Family Fun Passport event and is open to everyone. The final six walks will be July 19 and 26, Aug. 2 (family walk), Aug. 9, 16 and 23. Participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

The Waldo County Trails Coalition is a group of nine organizations working to link 40-plus miles of new and existing trails in order to create continuous Hills-to-Sea Trails from Unity to Belfast.
