Camden on Canvas is an annual plein air painting fundraiser for the Camden Public Library. Over the weekend of July 19-21, 20 artists will work on location to paint midcoast Maine, building up to a live auction where each artist submits one newly finished painting.

Artists receive 50% of the sale price, with the other 50% being a donation to support the Camden Public Library. Camden on Canvas weekend is a celebration of the library, the arts, and the town of Camden, according to a news release from Julia Sagaser with the library.
Apply to be one of the selected artists by emailing the following to [email protected].
• Three images of examples of plein air painting at a resolution of 72dpi, 2,000 pixels on the longest side.
• Name image files starting with last name, ie: smith_camdenharbor.jpeg.
• Include dimensions of submitted artwork.
• Include a website, gallery, or Instagram link for further context.
The deadline to submit is Friday, Jan. 19. Jurors will make selections by Thursday, Feb. 1.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
