LEWISTON — Police and fire crews responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 95 just after 6 p.m. Tuesday near the southbound mile 79 marker between Auburn and Lewiston, according to Maine State Police.
Allen Tripp, 20, of Augusta was driving his Kia Sorento headed south on the turnpike when he lost control and rolled the car onto its side against a shoulder guard rail, and was for a time trapped in the car, said Shannon Moss, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson.
Lewiston Fire Department freed Tripp, who was unconscious at the time, and United Ambulance Service transported him to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.
“Seat belt usage likely prevented further injury,” Moss said.
Southbound traffic was affected only for a brief period.
The investigation is ongoing.
