The city of Waterville has partnered with CivicReady to implement its mass notification system.
CivicReady will allow the city to issue routine communications, urgent notifications, emergency instructions and warnings to subscribed citizens via email, text message and voicemail alert. In the event of a local emergency, citizens subscribed to CivicReady will benefit from immediate, actionable information and instructions sent via their preferred notification method.
The city has created several categories that citizens can choose to be notified about including city events: City Hall announcements such as office closures, important due dates for taxes and dog licenses; election updates and notifications; events at Quarry Road; traffic advisories, such as road closures, parking bans and updates on the Ticonic Bridge Project; trash and recycling notifications such as holiday pick up schedules; and severe weather advisories.
Citizens choose what they want to be notified about, and how – by text, email, or voice calls. The notification system will also be used in the event of emergencies.
To sign up for notifications in any category, visit waterville-me.gov or go directly to waterville-me.myfreealerts.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
