AUGUSTA — The Passamaquoddy tribe will receive $800,000 in federal money to improve services for children and families who have a high risk of substance abuse.
The Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township will receive the grant from the federal Center for Mental Health Services. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say the money will help the tribe fund Project LAUNCH, an initiative that seeks to serve “high-risk, substance-exposed youth and their families” in Washington County.
Project LAUNCH will work with tribal child service agencies to provide care. The senators say the project will specifically target children ages 8 and younger and their families.
