Oakland’s problem with Canada geese fouling the area around the public beach and boat launch reminded me of something similar I’d read about several years ago.

Managers of a golf course in Colorado, plagued by problem geese on the greens, found an interesting solution. They paid someone with a couple of border collies to chase the birds away. Apparently the dogs were taken there on a regular basis and happily attempted to herd the geese, discouraging their presence. (There’s a link on the Internet at Hardey Border Collie Goose Patrol, to give an idea how this works.)
