Cheverus sophomore Addison DeRoche was announced Monday as the Gatorade Maine Softball Player of the Year for the second straight season. 

DeRoche led the defending Class A state champion Stags to a 16-0 record in the regular season and the No. 1 seed in the Class A South playoffs. The right-handed pitcher/first baseman went 9-0 with a 0.44 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 63 innings. At the plate, DeRoche has a .564 average, with four home runs and 19 RBI.

Last season, when DeRoche was also named the Varsity Maine Softball Player of the Year, she went 12-1 with a .008 ERA and 212 strikeouts in 87 innings. At the plate as a freshman, she hit .469 with four home runs and 27 RBI.
