Five Hartford pitchers combined on a five-hitter Wednesday, leading the Yard Goats to a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game at Hadlock Field.
Hartford broke a 1-1 tie with an unearned run in the sixth inning against Dalton Rogers, who took loss despite allowing only two hits over six innings.
Ronaiker Palma made it 3-1 when he greeted reliever Jeremy Wu-Yelland with a leadoff home run in the seventh.
The Sea Dogs opened the scoring in the third on a two-out double by Ahbram Liendo and an RBI single by Mikey Romero. Allan Castro scored Portland’s other run in the bottom of the seventh on a Brooks Brannon groundout.
Brayan Castillo saved the victory for McCade Brown, striking out Brannon for the final out with runners on second and third.
