SIDNEY — The Sidney Historical Society has announced the publication of “The Vital Records of Sidney, Maine” by Picton Press.

The book has the original vital records of Sidney — including births, deaths, marriages, and marriage intentions dating from the late 1700s to 1892. The records were transcribed by Beth Clark Golding, Sally Furber Nelson, and Janet McCarthy Weymouth, over the course of a year. The book is indexed for those looking for the ancestors.

The book is available every Tuesday, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the society’s research center, the old Grange Hall on Middle Road.

During the historical society’s meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grange Hall, the three transcribers will describe their experiences as they discovered their own ancestors in these vital records.

Copies are available to order. For more information, call Weymouth at 453-7472.
