A man involved in a crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 95 in Clinton that forced the closure of a northbound lane “fled the scene and is wanted for questioning,” Clinton police said.

The accident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 138. Troopers have closed the passing lane on the northbound side.

Clinton police have established a heavy presence on Hinckley Road and Bellsqueeze Road, near the interstate, Mike Conners, the public information officer for the Clinton Police Department, said in a Facebook post.

The man was described by police as having injuries to his face, wearing a black hoodie and carrying a backpack.

Conners said people who see a person matching this description in the area should not approach and should call 911.

A shelter in place order has not been issued, but Clinton police said “it would be wise to stay inside and keep kids inside and doors locked, if possible.”

Further information would be available later Tuesday, State Police said.

This is a developing story.
