What I’d like to say about Richard M. Libby, 48, of Windsor, “Man gets 20 years for abusing child” (article, March 25), who sexually assaulted a young girl over eight years, the Kennebec Journal couldn’t print, but I can think it.

Everybody wants to protect children, but where’s the punishment? Libby will serve 13 years — if that — of a 20-year sentence and 16 years probation. That’s not enough. A young girl’s life and her family’s has been ruined forever.

For certain crimes, there’s no excuse, rehabilitation or forgiveness, and I believe this is one of them.
