AUGUSTA — Lithgow Public Library will host an informational workshop on Augusta’s new recycling program at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 14, in the Reading Room. Staff from ecomaine will give a brief presentation about Augusta’s drop-off single-sort recycling program, including do’s and don’ts of what materials can be recycled, how the material is sorted, and will give a virtual tour of the ecomaine facility in Portland, according to a news release from the library.

The free presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, ecomaine will provide free materials about single-sort recycling, along with eco-friendly giveaways.

“This is a great opportunity to find out more about the city’s new single-sort recycling program and get your questions answered,” said Lissa Bittermann of ecomaine in the release. “The six-month pilot program begins on Friday, March 6, and ecomaine recycling containers will be staged at Hatch Hill, City Center and the Department of Public Works. Single-sort recycling means you can put all of your recyclables into one container — no more sorting of recyclables.”
