Augusta police are searching for a man who robbed an Eastern Avenue convenience store Tuesday night.
Police Lt. Christopher Massey said nobody was hurt when the unidentified man walked into the Circle K at 216 Eastern Ave. and demanded cash from the register. No customers were in the store during the robbery, which occurred around 10:30 p.m.
“There was no weapon displayed, but there was a threat that one was present,” Massey said.
The clerk, a man, gave the robber cash that totaled less than $100, Massey said.
The robber fled out the door with the cash. A Kennebec County Sheriff Deputy with a dog attempted to track the robber, but was unsuccessful.
The robber was wearing a mask, Massey said. No other description was immediately available.
Massey said detectives continue to follow leads provided by the clerk and surveillance video.
