AUGUSTA — Officials say a mobile food bank in Maine has distributed about 10,000 pounds of food to more than 800 people in a single day.
Hundreds of people lined up outside the Good Shepherd Food Bank’s food mobile in Augusta on Friday.
Organizers say between 10 a.m. and noon. more than 800 people had gone through the line.
Good Shepherd distributes food to about 600 partner agencies and is the largest hunger relief program in the state.
Fifty-four-year old Joyce Sabins told the Kennebec Journal that she came to the free food distribution because she needs food to get through the rest of the month or else she might have to go without something else, possibly her medications.
