Place-based historian Jay Robbins, of Richmond, will present Pownalborough Courts, Cases and Characters (1761-94) at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the Lincoln County Communications Center in Wiscasset. This is the last presentation of the current winter lecture series, sponsored by Lincoln County Historical Association, according to a news release from the association.
Covering details of the courts held at Pownalborough Court House, Robbins will discuss judicial culture and tradition, the evolving state of the law and its adjudication, and the role the Courts played in the community.
Robbins has been digging out local history for more than 40 years. His primary focus has been the Tidewater Kennebec and early Lincoln County.
Admission to the winter lecture series is free. A $5 donation is suggested. Coffee and pastries will be served. For more information about the lecture, call Christine Hopf-Lovette at 522-6397.
