The chief health officer of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services spends three columns in support of the governor’s “plan” on heroin addiction (“Gov. LePage tackles opioid over-prescribing with strong legislation,” March 15) while opposite sits a full-page ad for a sale on alcoholic beverages by the state of Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages, entitled “Whiskey Fest!,” where state agency stores offer (among others) a 1.75-liter bottle of Jameson’s (five dollars off sale) at $44.99. Brilliant.
