AmeriCorps seeks people interested in supporting the health and well-being of seniors in your hometown. The AmeriCorps Somerset County Program helps connect low-income seniors to food support services, transportation, primary care and opportunities to socialize. Volunteers help make the community a more age-friendly place to live. The program offers full- and part-time positions and a variety of opportunities for active retirees and anyone interested in community health work.
Benefits include a living stipend for full-time members and all positions are eligible for an education award upon successful completion of service. Members who are age 55-plus at the time of service can gift their education award to a child or grandchild to help pay for college expenses. All members receive training and professional development.
