AUGUSTA — A jury on Monday found a Winthrop man guilty of a charge of operating under the influence after a previous trial resulted in a hung jury.
Following the one-day trial at the Capital Judicial Center, Stephen G. Campbell, 66, was fined $500 and his driver’s license was suspended for 150 days, the mandatory minimum sentence for that conviction.
The offense occurred at 12:52 a.m. April 26, 2015, in Augusta, when Campbell was arrested during a traffic stop on Western Avenue and charged with operating under the influence.
Campbell did not testify at the trial, which was the second for the case. The previous one at the same courthouse in April ended with a hung jury.
Campbell was represented by attorney Darrick Banda. The prosecutor was Deputy District Attorney Paul Cavanaugh.
