Former U.S. Sen. George J. Mitchell Jr., D-Maine, recently was presented a special Timothy S. Healy, S.J. Award for his exemplary public service in support of society and humanitarian causes by Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia. Mitchell is a 1961 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center.

The award was presented during the John Carroll Weekend in Austin, Texas, a trademark celebration of the Georgetown University Alumni Association.
