CANTON — State environmental officials are holding a public meeting regarding a wind farm being proposed in western Maine.

The Department of Environmental Protection is taking comments and answering questions from the public Wednesday on its analysis of an eight-turbine wind farm being proposed on Canton Mountain in the town of Canton. The 5 p.m. meeting is being held at the Canton fire station.

Canton Mountain Wind LLC, a subsidiary of Patriot Renewables, has proposed the project. Patriot Renewables already operates two small wind farms in Maine, one with 10 turbines and the other with three turbines.
