Duckfat and Oxbow are brewing up a new collaboration – a new Duckfat Beer Garden on Washington Avenue.

Duckfat, one of the most popular casual restaurants in Portland, has a commissary kitchen in the building at 43 Washington Ave. and Oxbow Blending & Bottling has a tasting room right next door at 49 Washington Ave., so it’s a natural partnership.

Duckfat, which is owned by James Beard Award winner Rob Evans, announced the collaboration over the weekend on Instagram. On Monday, Evans declined to provide any more information about the project until “our concept is solidified.” He does not expect the beer garden to open until fall.

Also, according to the Instagram post, Duckfat will be serving a grill menu out of its Washington Avenue kitchen every Wednesday through Saturday for the rest of the summer. The hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 6 to midnight Friday and Saturday. The menu includes a lobster hot dog, BBQ pork belly, chicken sausage and pickled Maine mussels.
