NEWRY — The Inaugural Legends of Maine Skiing Race is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, on the Monday Mourning trail at Barker Mountain, Sunday River Ski Resort. The race, scheduled during the GO50 Week, is open to men and women 50 and older. Age divisions for both men and women are 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older.
Winners in each division will receive medals at the post race awards celebration at the Barker Bar. Several Maine Ski Hall of Fame inductees are expected to race including former U.S. Ski Team coach Bob Harkins and Ski Maine Executive Director Greg Sweetser.
The race entry fee is $40 or $55 with lift pass included.
Proceeds from the giant slalom ski race will benefit the Ski Museum of Maine in Kingfield.
Registration will be open from 9 a.m. to noon at the Barker Mountain lodge or online at adminskiracing.com.
