The moon sets behind the Maine State House around 6:47 a.m. Wednesday in Augusta. The "super blue blood moon" was the result of three lunar events happening at the same time: The super means the moon is closer to earth than usual and so appears larger, the blue means it is the second full moon of the month, and the blood is for the red color caused by a lunar eclipse. On the east coast, the moon set before totality of the eclipse occurred. Staff photo by Joe Phelan
