Richmond Health Center receives honor

Richmond Area Health Center has been recognized as a Let’s Go! site of distinction.

The health center is one of 11 practices of HealthReach Community Health Centers, which provide medical and behavioral health services to local residents from birth through retirement.

HealthReach has partnered with Let’s Go! since 2013. This past year, Richmond engaged children and families with the 5-2-1-0 message (five servings of fruits and vegetables, two hours or less of recreational screen time, one hour or more of physical activity, and no sugary drinks) through posters in the waiting room and in every pediatric exam room. In addition, the staff utilized the Healthy Habits Questionnaire and measured patients’ Body Mass Index at every well child check to begin conversations with patients about healthy weight and overall wellness. Richmond hosted an annual 5K race with 48 participants completing the race. They also partnered with the Umberhine Public Library to hold a 5-2-1-0-themed poster contest for the 10 children participating in the library’s summer reading program.

5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! is a nationally recognized childhood obesity prevention program.

HealthReach Community Health Centers are a group of 11 federally qualified health centers in central and western Maine. They deliver medical and behavioral health care to citizens in over 80 rural communities. HealthReach accepts Medicare, MaineCare and major insurances. In addition, an Affordable Care Program is available to uninsured and underinsured residents as well as assistance with applications for programs that help with the cost of health care and medications.

Worthley appointed lead pharmacy tech

FARMINGTON — Garry Miller, director of pharmacy at Franklin Memorial Hospital, recently announced that Michael Worthley, CPhT, has been promoted to lead pharmacy technician. He has worked in the hospital’s pharmacy as a technician for 15 years.

The lead pharmacy technician holds a leadership position in which he must provide orientation, training, supervision and assess quality compliance for four pharmacy technicians. In his new role he will collaborate with the pharmacy purchasing technician and pharmacists in optimizing operational workflow and upholding all medication systems to meet all health and safety standards and protocols.

Worthley resides in Phillips with his wife Cindy. They are the parents of two grown children, Patrick and Spencer.
