Police have charged one man following a shooting Thursday night in the Penobscot County town of Garland.

Abimelec Castanon, also known as Neftali Colon Jr., was arrested in Medway shortly after police say he shot a man behind a mobile home on Dexter Road in Garland. The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office received two 911 calls about the shooting.

The victim, whose name and hometown were not released by police, was taken to a Bangor hospital. Police told News Center Maine that the man’s wounds were not life-threatening.

Castanon was charged with elevated aggravated assault, a Class A felony. He is being held at Penobscot County Jail.
