VIENNA — The bridge carrying Route 41 across Mill Stream is getting some rehabilitation work by state Department of Transportation maintenance crews. The work is intended to extending the bridge’s lifespan.
Ted Talbot, department spokesman, said the work includes repairing wing walls and replacing rails.
The downstream wing wall is completed and rails are being installed there. Crews now are dealing with the upstream walls.
Talbot said the maintenance crew in that area is doing this as time permits. “Occasionally, they’re pulled off for other projects as needs arise,” he said.
He said about a month’s worth of work remains on the project, but that it is being done intermittently. Talbot said the work does not require any ongoing traffic restriction.
The project is funded by the regular transportation department maintenance budget.
