Mary Hastings, of Chesterville, carries a pumpkin from the self pick patch at the Stevenson Farm Thursday in Wayne. Hastings collected 12 pumpkins with four generations of her family at the patch, which will be open for self selection every weekend through Halloween.

Richmond Middle School students watch exchange student Satoko Suwanai, 16, perform a traditional Japanese dance Tuesday at the school in Richmond. The school hosted 10 teenagers and four chaperones participating in the annual exchange with Hall-Dale High School. Richmond students learned about Japanese origami, music and tea ceremonies in addition to dance. Richmond schools began teaching Japanese last year, according to principal Steve Lavoie.
