SNAPSHOT: Hurdling the hard way

SNAPSHOT: Coon cat carrier

Susan Tessier lugs a Maine coon cat she showed Sunday during the Nauticats Cat Show in Augusta. Over 150 cats competed in 20 different events in the show that commenced Friday. Tessier traveled from Quebec to have her feline judged.

Cony High School students rehearse Wednesday for the 122nd Chizzle Wizzle at the Augusta school. Featuring a 1980s theme and titled “Rock of Stages,” the annual performance by Cony students runs March 19-22. Tickets are available at the high school.

SNAPSHOT: Warm-weather worship

SNAPSHOT: Desk job

The non-profit shop sells items and donates all the proceeds to local animal welfare causes, according to Brown. Brown donated his time to repaint the desk that was recently sold.

SNAPSHOT: Vienna bridge repair

Maine Department of Transportation workers Dave Ferland, left, and Lenny Sioch hang plastic tarp frames with colleagues Tuesday on a platform beneath the bridge on Route 41, spanning Mill Stream in Vienna. The workers were erecting a winter enclosure to commence repairing posts, rails and wing walls on the bridge, according to Ferland, the supervisor. The crew should be finished fixing the span in about six weeks.

SNAPSHOT: Snow mountain

Augusta Public Works employee Matt Jackson directs a truck to pour snow Thursday on the winter dump located on the banks of the Kennebec River, on the east side of Augusta. Workers were collecting snow from city schools and relocating it to the hill that rises to a height just below the catwalk underneath Memorial Bridge. The hill isn’t as high as it has been in past winters, workers said, and usually melts by the end of spring.
