Augusta Public Works employee Matt Jackson directs a truck to pour snow Thursday on the winter dump located on the banks of the Kennebec River, on the east side of Augusta. Workers were collecting snow from city schools and relocating it to the hill that rises to a height just below the catwalk underneath Memorial Bridge. The hill isn’t as high as it has been in past winters, workers said, and usually melts by the end of spring.
