AUGUSTA — After a strong first half that produced a two-goal lead, the Winslow girls soccer team found itself on its heels against Gardiner early in the second half.

VASSALBORO — Maranacook and Winthrop are probably a year away from contending for state team golf championships, but Saturday they took significant steps toward those goals.

The Maranacook golf team is hoping to contend for the Class B team title at Saturday’s high school team championships at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. Based on the conference qualifier, also held at Natanis, the Black Bears will be among the favorites.

AUGUSTA — The outcome looked bleak for the Cony girls soccer team after it failed to register a shot on goal in the first half of Tuesday’s game against Mt. Blue.

The next few weeks will determine the success of Sam Seekins and the Bowdoin College cross country team, but so far both are looking good.
