The Valley girls basketball team will be off for nearly two weeks, but then it’s new territory for both coach Mike Rowe and most of his players.

SALEM TOWNSHIP — There have been many chances for Mt. Abram’s Miranda Smith to give up basketball this season. She could have packed it in because of the pain that keeps her from playing more than a few minutes at a time. She could have quit when a few players didn’t come out for the team in midseason or when two more players left the team after the season began, leaving the Roadrunners with six varsity players.

NEWPORT — For a team with a 14-2 record, the Nokomis girls basketball team has still wrestled with inconsistency this winter. Sometimes, the Warriors look wonderful. Sometimes, it’s the opposite. In the first half of Saturday afternoon’s game against Maranacook, the Warriors went in both directions.

The Lawrence girls basketball team has its last home game of the season Friday night against Mt. Blue. Still there won’t be any senior night festivities for the Bulldogs.
