Two seats representing the Augusta city council are up for election Nov. 5

George Lapointe and Andrew McPherson face each other on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Gov. Paul LePage, himself a victim of domestic violence, helped kick off the fifth Taylor Tip-Off Tournament, which will be held in Falmouth and Waterville on Nov. 10.

The Rev. Francis Morin, administrator of the Augusta-based St. Michael Catholic Parish and the Hallowell church, said Wednesday that Bishop Richard Malone, after a teleconference with local church officials, decided to merge the Summer Street church with the St. Michael parish.

Chris Vallee will run as a write-in candidate on the Nov. 5 ballot.
