GARDINER — The Winslow and Gardiner high school baseball teams entered Saturday morning’s Early Bird Special game almost tied in the Eastern Maine Class B Heal point standings. Winslow had less than a point lead on the Tigers in the race for fourth place in the region.

PITTSFIELD — The post-graduate men’s basketball team at Maine Central Institute was once one of the top prep basketball programs in the nation. Dozens of players went from the Pittsfield school to Division I college basketball, and some even went on to successful professional careers in the NBA.

While many teams have seen a decline in power with the use of the new BBCOR bats or wooden bats this season, the Winslow High School baseball team is hitting as well as it has in years.
