Barbara Bush, shown at age 7, was born Barbara Pierce on June 8, 1925, the third child of Marvin Pierce, a vice president of the McCall Corporation, publisher of the leading women’s magazines of the day, and the former Pauline Robinson, daughter of an Ohio Supreme Court Justice and aspiring New York socialite.
