From left, Kennebec Valley Garden Club Vice President Debbie Sherman and members Karen Foster and Jean Matheson decorate the front stairway at the Blaine House on Thursday in Augusta. This year's decorations have a military theme, and those in the entryway and up the stairs are to honor Gold Star families. For many years the club has done the Christmas decorations at the governor's mansion. This year's theme, at request of Maine first lady Ann LePage, is a "Holiday Tribute to Our Armed Forces," according to a news release from the club. The club is "honored and anxious to be a part of expressing respect and honor to our brave men and women in service to our country," according to the release.
