McCray said that with the new ones, there will be 26 hand sanitizer dispensers and six hand-washing stations around the animal display areas. Earlier this summer, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the state Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry warned the public to wash hands before and after touching animals to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal illness.
