Edmondson said he has not heard much news on the announcement the mill is laying off 190 workers. Edmondson said he's lost $20,000 this year since going from 20 loads per week to five. "This is not good," he said.
Jay Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere, seen at the town office Tuesday, said news of layoffs at the Androscoggin Mill came as a "punch in the stomach" to the town, which is still coping from previous mill turmoils.
The Verso paper mill in Jay, seen Jan. 28, has announced a reduction in capacity that will result in layoffs of 190 workers.
