Skowhegan asks state to push up repaving plans for deteriorating Madison Avenue
The Board of Selectmen sent a letter last week to the Maine Department of Transportation asking it adjust its paving schedule for the region to include work on Madison Avenue, one of the busiest roads in town.

Smithfield man arrested after pointing firearm toward sheriff’s deputy and detective
Somerset County sheriff’s officials went to the home of Barry Wheaton, 58, to arrest him on a warrant from another county when he refused to come out and then pointed the gun toward them, according to Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell.
