Randolph officials proposing flat budget totaling $2.1 million

At Town Meeting Wednesday, town residents will be asked to approve raising and appropriating money for a new fire truck.

The unavailability of surplus and a reduction in state education funding contributed most to the budget’s growth, officials said.

The town also approved a $3.16 million town budget for next year, which is down 1.8 percent from this year’s.

Voters rejected a mass gathering ordinance that would have required any gathering of 1,000 people to apply for a permit.

Voters also aproved a proposal that the town take control of the last independently owned cemetery in Washington.

Residents will also be asked to adopt a resolution asking county commissioners to restore contributions to social service agencies.

The Select Board is asking for an additional $30,000 to run the town government, with most of that money going toward employee salaries.
