Wilton seeks to control smart meters

WILTON — Selectmen voted this week to draft an ordinance to regulate the installation of wireless smart meters in town, making them the second Maine community to seek local control over the Central Maine Power Co. project.

WATERVILLE — The Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, 61 Pleasant St., will hold the seventh annual Blessing of the Animals service at 9:30 a.m. today in the sanctuary. Traditionally observed as the Feast of St. Francis, the Blessing of the Animals provides an opportunity to give thanks for the animals who share our lives.

Rob Surrette to perform in Waterville

WATERVILLE — Rob Surrette, a fast portrait artist, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Waterville Senior High School. He will speed-paint gigantic murals of historical figures with music.
