Maine ranks as plumpest state in New England
MONTPELIER, Vt. — America’s getting fatter, and so is New England. In a new study of obesity by the Trust for America’s Health released Thursday, Vermont ranked 45th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. New Hampshire was listed as 33rd fattest and Maine ranked 27th, the plumpest state in New England.

MLB: Manager of Red Sox ‘Impossible Dream’ dies
Hall of Fame manager Dick Williams, who won two World Series titles with Oakland and led two other franchises to pennants, has died. He was 82. Williams died from a ruptured aortic aneurysm at a hospital near his home in Henderson, Nev., the Hall of Fame said.
