Sidelines: It’s time for the America East Conference to add football

The University of Maine’s current football conference, the Coastal Athletic Association, has become a bloated mess, Dave Bailey writes.

The Black Bears, who finished 2-9 last season, have new coordinators on offense and defense under second-year head coach Jordan Stevens.

The former Gardiner High and USM standout will be inducted Aug. 19 at Mast Landing Brewing in Freeport.

At luncheon Monday, coaches representing the state’s seven collegiate programs say continued growth is the goal.

Forward Bradly Nadeau, a native of New Brunswick, was chosen by the Carolina Hurricanes with the 30th pick.
